The Living Stool

Naïké Guilleminot

The living Stool is a proposition for a future. We can question ourselves about the future problematics Humanity will face:
Our changing environment, our disrupted planet, species on the verge of extinction due to a shrinking environment. Soon there will be too many people on Earth, how will we feed them? How,
what, and where to grow the food of the future? The mycelium stool is an example of the future I would like : a piece of furniture. That Human must water to feed himself, giving a soul to the object and inviting its owner to develop a relationship with it. If you water it, you got delicious Oysters mushrooms. If you want to use it as a stool, you have to “kill it” by leaving the
mycelium close by a heating source. It’s a way to bring back life into our house, a non-Human life and to learn how to share our environment with a specie that is one of the oldest on the planet and from who we got a lot to learn : the mycelium.
